Tile Match: the triple matching puzzle
Tile Match is a calm, clever puzzle that has become one of the most popular mobile game styles. A stack of tiles sits on the table. You tap free tiles to move them down into a tray, and every time three identical tiles meet in the tray, they vanish with a satisfying pop. The only danger is the tray itself: it has seven slots, and if it fills up without a match, the level is over.
Our version uses beautiful mahjong tiles on a traditional patterned table, runs free in your browser, and every level has been built so that it can be won.
How to play
- Find a free tile. A tile is free when nothing lies on top of it. Covered tiles are shown darker and cannot be picked yet.
- Tap it into the tray. The tile slides into the tray at the bottom, next to any identical tiles already there.
- Make threes. Three identical tiles in the tray clear themselves.
- Clear the board. Remove every tile to finish the level. If the seven slots fill up first, try again.
Hint highlights a good tile to take, Undo puts back tiles that have not been matched yet, and Restart plays the same board again.
Strategy that works
Think in sets of three. The golden rule of triple matching: prefer tiles that complete or continue a set you already started. A tray with two pairs waiting is safe; a tray with five different single tiles is one tap from disaster.
Uncover before you commit. Tiles on the top layers hide others underneath. If you are unsure, take a tile that reveals something new rather than one that just fills the tray.
Count what you need. Each kind appears in multiples of three. If you see two tiles of a kind on the board and one is covered, plan how to free the third before you take the first two.
Use undo wisely. Undo is there to explore. Try a tile, see what it uncovers, and take it back if it does not help.
Why triple match games are so relaxing
Triple matching combines the pleasure of collecting with light planning. Short levels make it perfect for a quick break, and the tray limit adds just enough tension to keep you thinking. It is also a good game for older players and children: large tiles, simple rules and no time pressure.

Tile Match tips
Collect in threes
Before tapping, look for a tile you already have one or two of in the tray. Completing sets keeps the tray empty.
Keep slots free
Try not to hold more than two different unfinished kinds at once. Five or six tiles in the tray leaves no room for mistakes.
Dig under the stacks
Tiles on the top layer hide the ones below. Taking top tiles early reveals what is underneath and gives you more choices.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Tile Match?
Tap free tiles to move them into the tray. Three identical tiles in the tray disappear. Clear the whole board without filling the tray's seven slots.
Can every level be won?
Yes. Every board is built from a real winning order, taking tiles three of a kind at a time, and our tests check it for every level. You still have to find the order.
What is the difference with Mahjong Solitaire?
Both use mahjong tiles in layers, but in Mahjong Solitaire you remove pairs directly from the board. In Tile Match you collect three identical tiles in a tray with limited room.
Is there an undo?
Yes. Undo takes back tiles you moved into the tray, as long as they have not already been matched.
