What is Tango?
Tango is a binary logic puzzle: every cell holds one of two symbols, a sun or a moon. It belongs to the same family as Binairo, also called Takuzu, a puzzle created in Belgium in the late 2000s. Tango adds a twist: some neighboring cells are linked by an equals sign, meaning they are the same, or a cross, meaning they are different. The puzzle became widely known as a daily game in 2024.
The rules
- Each row and each column has three suns and three moons.
- No more than two of the same symbol may sit next to each other in a row or column.
- Cells joined by = hold the same symbol; cells joined by × hold opposite symbols.

Tap a cell once for a sun, twice for a moon, and a third time to clear it. The game highlights anything that breaks a rule, so you can spot mistakes early.
A step-by-step way to solve
- Break up pairs. Two suns side by side must have a moon on each end.
- Fill the gap. A pattern like sun, empty, sun means the middle is a moon.
- Count to three. Once a row has three suns, the rest of it is moons.
- Follow the signs in chains. A cross next to an equals sign often links three cells in a way that settles all of them at once.
- Alternate between rows and columns. Every symbol you place gives new information in the other direction.

Two suns side by side must have a moon on both ends. Look for pairs first, then for gaps like sun, empty, sun, which must be a moon in the middle.
Count to three
Once a row has three suns, every other cell in it is a moon. Counting finishes more lines than anything else.
Use the signs in chains
A × between two cells means one of each. Next to a filled cell, a chain of = and × signs fills in one cell after another.
